PEONIES & POETRY

Are you tired of winter?  I bet you are. Yesterday on Facebook I posted a comment on the 67th anniversary of the cardinal becoming the official state bird of North Carolina. Someone commented the sight of a cardinal in the snow reminded him that spring was right around the corner.

What are your favorite signs of spring in North Carolina?   Maybe they're the daffodils, peonies or hummingbirds. Where do you like to go to celebrate the warmer weather?  What's your favorite garden?

Cousin Jack Dellinger operates a historic gristmill in the mountains near Bakersville.  Jack reports robins around the mill this week - a sure sign that warmer weather is on the way.

I’m working on a new song called “Smitten” and it sounds like spring.  It will be on my new album, “Simple Beauty."

That's my father's watercolor and it's featured in my book Blue Ridge Reunion
